China, 1st Apr 2026 – On March 28, 2026, the inauguration ceremony of the IAI Beijing Creative Practice Center under IAI Global Design Award and Asia Pacific Designers Federation, as well as the opening ceremony of IAI 20th Anniversary Premiere Exhibition, was successfully held at Jijiamiao Shuangchuang Industrial Park, Fengtai District, Beijing. As the opening event of IAI’s 20th anniversary series of activities, this grand gathering brought together distinguished guests from home and abroad, industry elites and a number of IAI award-winning designers, with nearly 100 insiders gathering to witness this important milestone in the global design field.

The event was graced by a stellar lineup of distinguished guests, including Mr. Oskar Ho, Founder and Chairman of IAI Global Design Award and Chairman of Asia Pacific Designers Federation, Ms. Deng Jie, Chairwoman of GlowStar Art Foundation (USA), Mr. Tang Xijing, General Manager of Jijiamiao Shuangchuang Industrial Park, Professor Shi Minfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Design, Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, Ms. Ren Qiaozhi, Curator of the Cultural Section of the Austrian Embassy in China; Mr. Wu Guangyao, Senior EPC Director of Markor Cultural Tourism; Mr. Qiao Fanggang, Shareholder of Zhongguancun Future Technology Holdings Group; Mr. Zhang Hai, Executive Director of the IAI International Image Creative Center; and Mr. Wang Xiaogen, Founder of Beijing Genshang International Space Design Co., Ltd. and a multiple-time winner of the IAI Awards over the years.
In addition, a number of distinguished IAI award-winning representatives attended the event in person, covering diverse fields such as industrial design, engineering design, and artistic design. They are:Ms. Yu Hong, Head of Industrial Design at LOCKIN Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., who won the Best Design Award for the electronic lock Lockin AI Smart Lock V7 Max;Mr. Feng Heng, Chief Engineer of Central Southern China Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. of China Power Engineering Consulting Group, who received the Gold Award for his work Coconut Treasure Landscape Transmission Tower for Hainan 500kV Main Grid Project;and Ms. Ines Consuela Essen, an award-winning German designer and faculty member of the School of Design at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, who was invited to exhibit her ceramic innovation Gold Award work New Forms, New Consciousness.All three award-winning representatives gave exclusive interviews on site, sharing their creative concepts and design insights.

At the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Oskar Ho delivered a speech, pointing out that the Beijing Creative Practice Center is a key part of IAI’s global strategic layout. In the future, it will focus on nurturing local designers, transforming creative achievements into industrial applications, and strive to build the whole chain from design creativity to industrialization, so as to boost the high-quality development of China’s design industry. Ms. Deng Jie and Mr. Tang Xijing also delivered speeches successively. On behalf of the partner and the industrial park respectively, they stated that they would provide all-round resource support and operation guarantee for the center, and join hands with IAI to build a win-win and symbiotic design industry ecosystem. Guests from academic circles, international cultural exchanges and industrial sectors also expressed their vision for deepening cooperation with IAI and promoting cross-border integration of the design industry.

At the event, IAI officially released the center’s annual strategic plan and award winner incubation program, and deeply interpreted the “One Body, Two Wings” development layout, committed to building a growth platform for emerging designers and promoting the industrialization of high-quality award-winning works. The concurrent 20th anniversary premiere exhibition selected 40 global award-winning works of IAI, covering diverse fields such as cultural and creative design, architectural space, industrial design, digital technology, and green sustainability. Among them, New Form, New Consciousness, the gold award-winning ceramic innovation work by German designer Ines Consuela Essen, is particularly eye-catching, combining artistic beauty and academic value, and fully demonstrating the world’s top design level. The works of Mr. Yu Hong and Mr. Feng Heng have also become the focus of attention at the exhibition due to their innovative design and practical value, highlighting the diversity and practicability of IAI award-winning works.

In the interviews, the three award-winning designers respectively stated that IAI has built a high-quality communication and display platform for global designers, and the completion of the Beijing Creative Practice Center will provide stronger support for the implementation of design works and the connection of industry resources. In the future, IAI Beijing Creative Practice Center will take root in Fengtai, Beijing, and build a creative ecological hub integrating international design exchanges, talent incubation, work implementation and brand empowerment. Radiating the whole country with the capital as the core, it will gather the strength of Chinese design, and write a new chapter for Chinese design to go global on the occasion of IAI’s 20th anniversary.
